Job Description

About the role

The Safety Assurance Advisor plays a vital role within Sydney Airport’s Safety and Wellbeing team, helping ensure our airport operates safely, securely and in full compliance across maintenance, construction and operational activities. This role is central to protecting our people, partners and passengers while supporting the safe delivery of critical works in a complex, live operational environment.

Reporting to the Manager, SSEQ Compliance, you will provide second line assurance across Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality. As a trusted on-site presence during both day and curfew shifts, you will work closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to manage interface risks, resolve issues in real time and minimise impacts to operations, service delivery, and the customer experience.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to…

  • Support delivery of Sydney Airport’s Safety Strategy and Critical Risk Program
  • Provide expert advice on SSEQ controls, risk management and compliance
  • Conduct site inspections and assurance activities during day and curfew shifts
  • Monitor contractor works to manage interface and operational risks
  • Review contractor documentation including SWMS and management plans
  • Engage stakeholders through briefings, onboarding and toolbox talks

About you

  • Demonstrate experience in construction, compliance or safety advisory roles
  • Bring strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management frameworks
  • Apply a practical and proactive approach to safety and quality assurance
  • Communicate effectively with contractors and diverse stakeholders
  • Operate confidently in dynamic, operational environments
  • Commit to continuous improvement and customer-focused outcomes
