Job Description

About the role

Are you an experienced building site supervisor, potentially from within the Construction industry, and seeking a new opportunity that leverages your extensive knowledge of high-risk environments? If you're ready to take your career to the next level and contribute to major airport projects in Australia, we have an exciting role for you!

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable SSEQ Compliance Advisor to join our team in a key operational role supporting both day and night shifts. This is a frontline role providing second-line assurance across all maintenance and construction works at Sydney Airport.

You’ll work on-site to ensure compliance with our Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (SSEQ) requirements, while partnering with contractors and internal stakeholders to manage interface risks and maintain operational readiness.

Please note this is a 12-month contract.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to

  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct assurance inspections and audits during both day and curfew periods.
  • Contractor Oversight: Monitor contractor compliance with WHS (Work Health and Safety), quality, environmental, and security obligations.
  • Risk Management:
    • Provide advice and coaching on risk controls.
    • Participate in risk workshops, toolbox talks, and pre-start briefings.
  • Documentation Review: Assess contractor SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements), Safety and Quality Management Plans, and permits.
  • Coordination & Interface Management: Support coordination between projects, maintenance, and operations.
  • Post-Curfew Activities: Assist with return-to-service tasks after curfew periods.
  • Critical Risk Program: Help implement Sydney Airport’s Critical Risk Program, including assurance processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and support initiatives for ongoing improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Australian Standards, NCC/BCA (National Construction Code/Building Code of Australia), and WHS legislation.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, WHS, or a related trade
  • Experience in construction supervision or compliance roles
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, QA systems, and risk management
  • Skilled in incident response, inspections, and contractor engagement
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and permits
  • Familiar with Australian construction standards (e.g. BCA, NCC)
  • Understanding of contractor management, construction safety, and high-risk work frameworks
  • WHS or Lead Auditor certification (preferred)
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work rotating shifts and manage competing priorities
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to service delivery
