Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. You will support the Sales organization and our customers throughout the proposal process by preparing technical descriptions of applied products and technologies, determining costs, developing final documentation, and acting as a key technical resource for your assigned area. Your focus will be on ensuring tenders meet or exceed market requirements while maximizing the volume and profitability of ABB’s products and services.

This role sits within ABB’s Distribution (Medium Voltage) Solutions Division in Australia, working closely with key stakeholders across Sales, Segment, Execution, and Product Marketing teams.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Strategically planning and preparing high‑quality tender submissions by carrying out robust technical evaluations and developing optimized solutions for the Distribution (Medium Voltage) Solutions Division. You will coordinate across multiple Business Units to ensure accurate cost estimates, strong margins, and full compliance with risk review processes and customer deadlines.
  • Driving growth for the Medium Voltage portfolio by securing large-scale projects and baseline business, supporting commercial negotiations, and delivering comprehensive technical support to the front‑line sales team through tender clarifications, customer meetings, and product presentations.
  • Leading and actively contributing to risk review assessments, offering critical insights and ensuring all evaluations align with ABB’s policies, governance requirements, and commercial standards.
  • Championing continuous improvement by analyzing customer needs, benchmarking against competitor offerings, and conducting detailed lost‑proposal reviews to identify root causes and recommend strategic improvements in partnership with Sales and Local Business Units.
  • Enabling seamless project execution by providing clear pursuit data to Project Management, managing factory and sub‑vendor relationships through rigorous technical and commercial evaluations, and contributing to key financial KPIs—including revenue, EBIT, and tender hit rate—while consistently upholding ABB’s strategy, safety leadership, and code of conduct.
Qualifications for the role
  • Proven experience in Sales, Business Development and Tendering in a similar industry with market and segment awareness
  • Solid technical knowledge of medium-voltage switchgear (up to 36kV) and protection systems, and/or compact secondary substation solutions, with the ability to put together a tender for these offerings for key segment applications.
  • Minimum Electrical Engineering degree (or recognized equivalent)
  • Knowledge / Experience of working with Pricing/ Configuration tools for switchgear
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail, complemented by advanced computer literacy in the MS Office suite and MS Outlook.
  • Proactive, highly organized, and action-oriented professional with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively while demonstrating the flexibility to multi-task, solve complex problems, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities.
  • You hold current Australia work permit
