As the most deployed storage platform in the world, TrueNAS already powers critical data storage infrastructure for businesses, research institutions, and government agencies across 200+ countries and millions of users. Our mission is simple: to become the most trusted name in data storage.

Expected Posting Timelines

This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, a maximum of 90 days.

The Day-to-Day

The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Own the technical sales process across APAC — from initial discovery through proof-of-concept, technical validation, and close.
  • Lead compelling product demonstrations, technical deep-dives, and proof-of-concept engagements that showcase TrueNAS capabilities and differentiation.
  • Consult with prospective and existing customers to understand their infrastructure challenges, storage requirements, and business objectives — then architect solutions that fit.
  • Partner closely with Account Executives and the Director of Sales to develop and execute deal strategy for key opportunities across the region.
  • Enable and support channel partners and resellers with technical training, joint customer engagements, and demo support — particularly in India, Malaysia, and Singapore where channel ecosystems are critical.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and technical questionnaires with clear, compelling, and accurate content.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the competitive landscape (NetApp, Dell, Pure Storage, Synology, etc.) and articulate TrueNAS' differentiation with confidence.
  • Serve as the voice of the APAC customer internally — funneling market feedback, feature requests, and competitive intelligence to Product and Engineering teams.
  • Draft and contribute to presentations, solution briefs, case studies, and other sales collateral tailored to APAC audiences.
  • Provide post-sale technical support and guidance to ensure customer success and drive expansion opportunities.

Education and Experience

We have identified the following programs, experience, and knowledge that have helped others find success in this role at iXSystems. We understand though that knowledge comes from many forms of learning and experiences. Above all, we consider a person’s potential impact in the role and value their unique path to this point in their career.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Four or more years of pre-sales, sales engineering, or technical consulting experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, storage, or related technologies is strongly preferred. Candidates with 2–4 years of experience who demonstrate exceptional technical depth and self-direction will also be considered.
  • Experience selling into or supporting APAC markets is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with open-source storage, NAS/SAN, ZFS, or data center infrastructure is a significant advantage.
  • A combination of professional or educational experience (whether formal or informal) that affords you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities above.
  • Strong technical foundation in enterprise storage (NAS/SAN), ZFS, networking fundamentals, virtualization (VMware, Proxmox), and cloud/hybrid integration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven pre-sales or sales engineering experience, ideally in enterprise IT infrastructure, data storage, or data center technologies.
  • Comfort navigating diverse business cultures across APAC — from the direct, transactional style common in ANZ to the relationship-driven, consultative approach valued in India, Singapore, and Malaysia.
  • Strong demo and presentation skills — you can command a room (or a Zoom) and tell a compelling technical story.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight, managing your own schedule and priorities across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Familiarity with open-source technologies and communities is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin or other APAC languages is a plus, particularly for engaging Chinese-speaking business communities in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and collaboration platforms.
