Role
We are looking for a Sales Engineer to join our APJ Field Sales team in a hybrid capacity (Sydney office, 3 days per week), reporting to the Senior Manager, Sales Engineering.
A Commercial Sales Engineer at Zscaler is a customer-facing technical leader who partners with Commercial Account Executives to drive revenue by aligning Zscaler’s platform to customer business outcomes. You will blend consultative discovery, solution design, and technical validation to help prospects adopt Zscaler solutions while supporting expansion of the Zscaler platform within existing customers. Your role is to translate security and networking requirements into clear, compelling designs and demonstrations that accelerate deals.
What you’ll do (Role Expectations)
- Partner with Commercial Account Executives to run technical discovery, qualify requirements, and shape account strategies for pipeline creation and progression
- Deliver technical presentations, live demos, and workshops that communicate value, differentiation, and best practice deployment approaches
- Lead Proof of Values from success criteria through execution, coordinating with internal teams to remove blockers and prove measurable outcomes
- Design technical customer roadmaps and architectures aligned to the customer’s strategic priorities, use cases and constraints
- Provide accurate technical input for proposals and deal cycles, including requirements mapping, risk/objection handling, and guidance on implementation considerations

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- 3+ years in a customer-facing technical security role
- Demonstrated experience selling, designing or supporting security solutions such as cloud security, SASE/SSE, secure remote access, zero trust, network security, or identity
- Confidently able to articulate and present technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence outcomes
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume of work, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and customer experience
- Clear communication and expectation-setting skills, proactively aligning with team members on scope, timelines, and what ‘good’ looks like
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in a pre-sales role such as a Sales Engineer or Solution Consultant
- Strong discovery and qualification capability, including translating business objectives into technical requirements and success criteria
- Understanding of cloud and hybrid environments including AWS/Azure/GCP fundamentals, SaaS access patterns, and branch/remote user connectivity
