Job Description

Are you an innovative SAP developer passionate about modern cloud-native architecture? We are seeking a permanent SAP CAP Developer with deep SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) expertise to join our team in Sydney.

This is a key position for a developer who wants to move beyond traditional ABAP programming and lead the charge in building modern, cloud-native extensions and integrations. Working with high-profile enterprise environments, you will design, build, and deploy custom applications using the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) on BTP. If you are looking for a permanent, stable role with flexible hybrid working conditions in Sydney where you can stay at the absolute cutting edge of the SAP cloud ecosystem, this is it.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Cloud-Native Application Development: Build, extend, and deploy custom enterprise applications on SAP BTP using the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) (Node.js or Java).

  • Data Modeling & Business Logic: Design Core Data Services (CDS) models, define database structures, and implement custom backend business logic and OData / RESTful APIs.

  • BTP Service Integration: Leverage key SAP BTP capabilities, including SAP HANA Cloud, Destination Service, XSUAA (Security/Authentication), Connectivity Service, and Event Mesh.

  • Modern UI & Front-End: Collaborate with UI/UX specialists to connect CAP backends with modern front-ends (SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 / React).

  • Side-by-Side Extensions: Architect and execute clean "side-by-side" extensions to keep core SAP systems (S/4HANA or ECC) clean and performant.

  • DevOps & Quality Assurance: Manage modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud deployment lifecycles within the SAP BTP environment.

Qualifications

Core Requirements:

  • Proven CAP Experience: Hands-on expertise developing cloud-native applications using the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP).

  • SAP BTP Proficiency: Strong practical experience working with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), Cloud Foundry runtime, and core platform services.

  • Backend Stack: High proficiency in Node.js or Java, alongside CDS (Core Data Services) modeling and OData service development.

  • Data Management: Experience working with SAP HANA Cloud and relational database concepts.

  • Integration Expertise: Proven ability to build side-by-side extensions connecting BTP with S/4HANA or third-party platforms via APIs and event-driven architectures.

  • Location: Based in Sydney (or open to relocating) with rights to work permanently in Australia.

Highly Regarded (Good to Have):

  • Knowledge of SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 front-end frameworks.

  • Experience with SAP Build, Work Zone, or Integration Suite.

  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices (Git, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions for BTP deployments).

  • Official SAP BTP / CAP certifications.
