Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
Analyzes and maintains daily/weekly resin usage and assists in maintenance and system improvements to meet customer shipping requirements and inventory objectives. Analyzes and coordinates the purchase of resin in support of master production schedule through BAAN radio frequency. Works with other staff to maintain supplier minimum and maximum (min/max.) level requirements and oversees daily min/max levels. Maintains storage areas and coordinates min/max level requirements with available interior space and off-site storage facilities. Facilitates inventory accuracy by identifying and initiating actions to reduce errors and assists in corrective action. Performs visual inventory and adjusts as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
At level I, work involves primarily routine processing of data/documentation, focused on daily resin usage requirements. Guidance is provided directly by person or in the form of policies, systems, or procedures which direct work activities and decision making. Decisions typically involve limited risk to the organization and molding production. At level II, under initial work direction from Molding Manager, work is standard, moderately complex, and performed under general supervision. Work involves independent decision making on short to moderate-term issues/planning with guidance furnished on unusual matters, leaving longer-term decisions to Molding Manager. The impacts of decisions have a short to moderate-term impact and involve limited to moderate risk to the organization. Primarily involves intermediate through experienced-level work.
  • Analyzes and maintains daily/weekly resin usage and assists in maintenance and system improvements for assigned products to meet molding production needs, customer shipping requirements and inventory objectives.
  • Analyzes and coordinates the purchase of resins in support of master production schedule. Maintains on site resin inventories as well as inventories in the Grand Haven facility. May require driving between other Magna Mirrors facilities.
  • Works with other staff to maintain supplier min/max level requirements. Assumes responsibility for overseeing and managing daily min/max levels as they relate to visual pull system. Maintains and manages storage areas containing purchased, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods. Coordinates min/max. level requirements with available interior space and off site storage facilities.
  • Assists in development/improvement of molding floor layout, and reduction of inventory levels to increase manufacturing and material movement efficiency (i.e. space requirements for resin and components, research for space needed for new materials, set-up of logistics plans).
  • Facilitates inventory accuracy by identifying and initiating actions to reduce inventory errors. Performs cycle counts, analyzes and determines inventory transaction errors, and assists in developing and implementing corrective actions to correct and prevent errors.
  • Maintain and monitor empty tote storage and usage. Works directly with shipping and receiving to ensure molding production needs for empty totes is maintained.
  • Maintains records for all resin deliveries, and tracks any resin supplied from Newaygo to other facilities.
  • Generate orders based on Supplier Connection for all shoot and ship molded product. (Excluding Honda)
  • Maintains direct contact with all resin suppliers to ensure proper delivery dates. Duties will include direct contact with all resin suppliers, which in some cases may require management support to persuade resolution.
  • Issue and track customer charge backs that may result from late deliveries or contaminated product.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. May provide back-up support for team members.

REQUIREMENTS:
Level
  • High school diploma with related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously, under the pressure of changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate standard and specialized equipment and systems related to the job. Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to work with internal and external contacts. Ability to sensitively negotiate solutions for customers under time-sensitive, stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to navigate through the BAAN system.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use Supplier Connection and generate orders as needed for molding shoot and ship area.

Level II (in addition to above requirements)
  • Associate's degree including one year experience in materials or related field; or equivalent. Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Good mathematical aptitude to be able to analyze and take direction from data.
  • Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills to work with contacts at various levels within the organization. Good interpersonal skills to work in a team environment to accomplish tasks through positive interaction with others.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills to deal with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Good understanding of production inventory control techniques and principles. Knowledge and experience with a formal manufacturing control system and Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts, principles, and techniques strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform cycle counting activities and have knowledge of processes involved.
