THE ROLE
Thrive Market is looking for a highly motivated and energetic Senior Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team. This is a new role that will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of a wide variety of financial and other reports. The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant position will have a strong background in US GAAP with experience in a public accounting environment servicing consumer products clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including footnote disclosures, supporting schedules, roll-forwards, tie-outs, and disclosure checklists
- Prepare reporting packages and analysis for leadership and the board of directors
- Monitor, research, assess, document, and drive implementation of new accounting pronouncements
- Administer the equity management platform
- Prepare equity related journal entries and monitor equity compensation accounting, administration, and internal control functions
- Assist in the 409A valuation process and prepare supporting documentation
- Implement new software and efficiency tools related to equity and financial reporting
- Assist in the gathering of quarterly related party questionnaires and reporting
- Assist in monitoring climate related disclosures and developing a process to document our compliance with regulations.
- Assist in various special projects as they arise
- Perform adhoc benchmarking research of peer companies
- Maintains internal controls documentation for financial reporting functions
- Assist investor relations
- Establish and maintain active and effective communication and relationships with cross functional partners on the finance, legal, and people operations teams
- Implement process improvement initiatives to streamline the reporting process to provide accurate and timely information
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years relevant public accounting experience, Big 4 experience preferred
- CPA or progress towards obtaining license preferred
- Prior experience in e-commerce or CPG is a plus
- Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Prior experience with NetSuite, Workiva, Carta, and/or Shareworks is a plus
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Must be highly proficient in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookUp’s, Sumifs, etc
- Ability to work under pressure, often in a deadline-driven environment, and ability to perform several tasks concurrently
- Must possess excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and superior attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Ability to occasionally travel (~5%)
