The Opportunity
Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for delivering high-quality financial reporting and driving process improvements? We’re seeking a Senior Accountant - Group Reporting to lead the preparation and production of financial reports for our Group. This role plays a key part in consolidating financial data, preparing statements and disclosures, and coordinating governance activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting. You’ll collaborate closely with finance, actuarial, and business units to support strategic transformation and maintain robust reporting processes.
In this role, you’ll assist with the Australian group consolidation, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and manage stakeholder communications across various teams. Your ability to analyse complex information, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively will be essential. You’ll also provide project management support to ensure all reporting materials meet deadlines and quality standards.
To succeed, you’ll bring appropriate accounting qualifications and experience in life insurance financial statements - ideally within the banking or financial services sector. Strong relationship management, problem-solving skills, and a proactive, outcomes-driven mindset are key. How will you make an impact?
Reporting:
Assist with the preparation of financial statements and associated disclosures for Group reporting purposes:
Ensure Group reporting is prepared on time and to a high standard.
Updating Narrative Reporting with changes as required.
Working with other team members to complete analysis and prepare commentary on results.
Assist with the ongoing development of Group reporting processes and controls.
Consolidation:
Assist in the completion of the Australian group consolidation including working closely with other team members to coordinate inputs.
Continuous improvement of the consolidation and associate reporting processes.
Coordination of financial reporting governance activities:
Provide project management assistance to ensure Group reporting material is prepared, reviewed and delivered within the required time frames.
Collaborate with other Finance & Actuarial team members to ensure key reporting governance activities are performed within required timelines.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
Act as a liaison between finance, actuarial, and other business units to ensure collaboration and effective communication of transformation and process improvement efforts.
Work with leaders and squads to identify and validate impacts resulting from strategic change within F&A COE’s or driven by external initiatives and put in place strategies to mitigate
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:
Appropriate accounting qualifications
Preparation and / or audit of life insurance financial statements
Life Insurance, banking and financial services industry experience essential
Project management / coordination while working in small to midsize teams
Ability to work in an agile environment but can manage multiple activities with different competing requirements
Problem solving - ability to assimilate and analyse complex information from disparate sources and provide sound, well-reasoned outputs
Outcomes driven – must be focussed on meeting deadlines, proactive – able to drive the outcomes with different stakeholder’s, is collaborative and delivers to agreed outcomes
Communicative – ability to communicate concisely, in a clear and effective way, both verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organisation
Strong relationship management skills – ability to manage stakeholders and competing priorities
Flexibility – willingness to focus on additional initiatives as they arise
