The Opportunity
We’re looking for a highly skilled and proactive Senior Accountant - Statutory Reporting to perform a lead role in the preparation of our 2025 financial statements. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of statutory reporting, including proforma and final statements, acquisition-related disclosures, and updates aligned with AASB 17. You’ll also play a key role in preparing Board materials and coordinating governance activities across finance and actuarial teams.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the end-to-end process of financial statement preparation, support external audit queries, and contribute to the development of accounting position papers. Your ability to communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across teams will be essential in delivering high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines. You’ll also support strategic transformation initiatives by identifying and mitigating reporting impacts.

How will you make an impact?
Preparation of proforma and final financial statements:
Ensure the proforma financial statements are prepared for audit review including new and revised disclosures and supporting materials.
Updating Narrative Reporting with changes as required.
Work with other team members to ensure the timely production of year-end financial statements to a high-quality standard.
Assist external auditors with resolution of queries.
Preparation of Board materials:
Assist in the preparation of accounting related board papers to explain financial statement disclosures and support board approvals.
Coordination of other team members inputs to key accounting papers to ensure timely preparation.
Preparation of papers to support board approvals.
Coordination of the review process ensuring version control for updates.
Coordination of financial reporting governance activities:
Provide project management assistance to ensure board material are prepared, reviewed and delivered within the required time frames.
Collaborate with other Finance & Actuarial team members to ensure key reporting governance activities are performed as.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
Act as a liaison between finance, actuarial, and other business units to ensure collaboration and effective communication of transformation and process improvement efforts.
Work with leaders and squads to identify and validate impacts resulting from strategic change within F&A COE’s or driven by external initiatives and put in place strategies to mitigate.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following:
Appropriate accounting qualifications
Preparation and / or audit of life insurance financial statements
Life Insurance, banking and financial services industry experience essential
Preparation of accounting position papers
Project management / coordination while working in small to midsize teams
Ability to work in an agile environment but can manage multiple activities with different competing requirements
Problem solving - ability to assimilate and analyse complex information from disparate sources and provide sound, well-reasoned outputs
Outcomes driven – must be focussed on meeting deadlines, proactive – able to drive the outcomes with different stakeholder’s, is collaborative and delivers to agreed outcomes
Communicative – ability to communicate concisely, in a clear and effective way, both verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organisation
Strong relationship management skills – ability to manage stakeholders and competing priorities
Flexibility – willingness to focus on additional initiatives as they arise
