We have partnered with an established, global direct-to-consumer retail business operating across major national brand channels and customer loyalty networks. Supported by a lean central team and an expanding commercial footprint, the business is entering a key phase of process automation, system modernisation, and commercial growth.

The Role

This is not a traditional accounting role where you just put your headphones on and process routine month-end spreadsheets. While core management accounting and cash flow forecasting are central to the role, the scope here is designed to flex. For a candidate with an analytical mindset, there is direct scope to expand into FP&A, commercial analysis, and decision support, working alongside the FP&A Lead and Financial Controller.

You will serve as a vital link between finance, marketing, logistics, and buying teams. Your focus will span inventory valuations, carrier performance analysis, partner commission reconciliations, and weekly cash flow forecasting. The Financial Controller depends on this role to act as an inquisitive partner who looks closely at processes, asks smart questions, and improves spreadsheet efficiency through modern tools.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with customer acquisition and marketing teams to manage, analyse, and process partner commission accruals and weekly cash flow schedules.

  • Act as the finance contact for major brand partners (including redemption store points and national media partnerships), investigating reconciliation queries and handling regulatory reporting.

  • Support FP&A and commercial decision-making by delivering insightful variance analysis on operations costs, customer service expenditure, and logistics carrier performance.

  • Own inventory and margin analysis, tracking stock pricing issues, COGS postings, misc charges, and cycle count credibility ahead of month-end.

  • Calculate quarterly stock provisions, manage stocktake financial reconciliations, and handle intercompany stock reporting.

  • Build and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts in collaboration with the Financial Controller to feed into annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles.

  • Leverage Microsoft Excel, Dynamics 365, and AI tools like Copilot to automate repetitive processes, fix legacy spreadsheet models, and speed up monthly reporting.

What You'll Bring
  • A tertiary qualification in Commerce or Finance, fully CPA qualified or very close to completion.

  • Management accounting or commercial analyst experience within retail, FMCG, logistics, or inventory-heavy environments where physical stock and margins matter.

  • An interest or capability in FP&A, budgeting, and commercial modeling, alongside strong foundational accounting skills.

  • Strong spreadsheet capability, combined with a natural comfort using modern tools or AI (e.g., Copilot) to improve workflows and fix broken models independently.

  • A track record of active cross-functional business partnering, with the ability to explain financial numbers clearly to non-finance stakeholders via email and face-to-face conversations.

  • Experience with ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar modern platforms is preferred.

Who You Are

You enjoy having a broad, commercial remit. You get satisfaction from taking ownership of your work, digging into data to figure out why a system generated a different cost, and presenting solutions rather than just reporting errors.

You are comfortable in an environment where month-end can be tight, but where there is genuine freedom to carve out analytical responsibilities and improve how things are done. You bring an inquisitive mindset, natural initiative, and an open, approachable communication style that builds easy rapport with peers across finance, operations, and marketing.

This role is for you if:

  • You want a management accounting base with the clear option to stretch into FP&A, commercial planning, and business analysis.

  • You like being part of an approachable, collaborative finance team where colleagues cross-cover and support each other's development.

  • You enjoy building relationships across departments and walking over to someone's desk to solve a problem.

  • You want to use modern AI and automation tools to streamline manual processes.

This role is not for you if:

  • You prefer to work in complete isolation without talking to other teams or asking questions.

  • You need every single task laid out step-by-step and prefer strictly following legacy process notes over finding better ways to do things.

  • You want a pure heads-down corporate financial reporting job with no exposure to inventory, supply chain, or FP&A.

  • You are looking for a rigid, highly structured promotion ladder on day one rather than gaining broad operational and analytical exposure.

Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Dual Career Path (Accounting & FP&A): Direct hands-on exposure to both core management accounting and commercial FP&A support, giving you a broader skills base than a standard finance role.

  • Modern Tools: Active encouragement to leverage technology, ERP systems (D365), and AI tools (Copilot) to eliminate mundane manual work.

  • Close Team Environment: Work directly alongside an experienced Financial Controller and FP&A Lead in a collaborative team culture where initiative is recognized.

  • Commercial Impact: See how your cost analysis directly shapes operational decisions, partner contracts, and logistics carrier choices.
