The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Adviser to join our National Community & Sustainability team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the Firm's community and sustainability programs. These programs include; Environmental Sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of our operations and raising awareness of sustainability issues our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which reflects our commitment to equal opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and Community Connect and the CU Foundation, focusing on positive social impacts that address social disadvantage and access to justice through volunteering, grants and fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities
In this busy and varied role, you will:
Lead the annual Climate Active greenhouse gas (carbon footprint) assessment.
Oversee the environmental management system and all external environmental reporting.
Run the carbon credit RFP process and manage Environmental Sustainability Committees and coordinators.
Develop and maintain the RAP and related policy, strategy documents and deliver annual RAP targets.
Work cross‑functionally to design, implement and manage the social procurement strategy.
Lead Community strategic planning and initiatives
Coordinate across Pro Bono, Diversity & Inclusion, Health & Wellbeing, Clients & Markets and other teams to align initiatives, consult on strategy documents, and identify programmes for Foundation funding.
Partner with Clients & Markets to support tender and client reporting on Community programmes.
Work with Risk Management to identify, assess and mitigate risks for volunteering, fundraising and Community Partner relationships; represent the firm at relevant external associations and networks (e.g., AusLSA, CitySwitch).
Produce program communications and presentations (e.g., newsletters, intranet stories, annual report, induction sessions), drive Workplace Giving participation, and manage Community Connect correspondence and funding/donation requests.
Support governance and compliance, including assistance with the external audit and ACNC lodgements.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Tertiary qualifications, ideally within Environmental Sustainability or similar.
Strong understanding of environmental sustainability practices, with demonstrated experience in sustainability measurement in a corporate environment.
Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to efficiently coordinate and deliver on projects simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail.
The confidence to influence a variety of senior stakeholders.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
Strong experience with Microsoft Office, especially in Outlook, as well as Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
