Job Description

The Role

AI Product Managers at Seek are a specialisation of the Product Manager role – they form the critical connection between Seek’s strategy and customer ambitions, and the possibilities that can be unlocked by AI and data. AI Product Managers work within cross-functional teams with Data Scientists, Engineers and other specialists, who build AI and data-driven products to solve our most important customer and business problems.

As a Senior AI Product Manager in the GenAI team, you will be entering a highly dynamic, highly visible, and highly impactful domain, and working on the most advanced, state-of-the-art AI techniques that exist today. This brings many opportunities as well as challenges. This is truly a fast-paced environment which demands a strong appetite for continual learning. The state-of-the-art changes from week to week, and today’s best practices quickly become outdated and supplanted by new techniques. The successful PM in this space will be able to identify the best emerging opportunities for SEEK that can leverage the latest technological developments in GenAI, develop a robust strategy and roadmap that can withstand the rapid pace of change in the field, and work with the team and partners to execute and see opportunities through to value delivery.

The Senior AI Product Manager will oversee the roadmap and delivery of GenAI Capabilities, which include building very early stage prototypes to test the capabilities of the latest GenAI technologies, as well as building and maintaining GenAI platforms that enable sustainable scaling of GenAI backed products.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Build an understanding of customer jobs to be done, constraints/gaps and product partners’ ambitions
  • Research innovations in and applications of GenAI technology, strategies and business models to act on commercial opportunities
  • Review GenAI project opportunities through fact-based findings to understand the potential value that can be delivered
  • Communicate strategic and commercial opportunities for the business to leverage GenAI, and develop plans to see them through to execution
  • Work with partners, AIPS and the squad to set quarterly joint OKRs for partner projects
  • Support the team to frame problems and trade-offs in a structured way that leads to robust decisions

Partners

  • Work with partners to frame opportunities leveraging the capabilities of GenAI
  • Coordinate squad engagement with partner teams to define, build and integrate new products and services
  • Manage contracts and ongoing engagement with partner teams

Product ownership

  • Work with partners and the squad to define measures of success for our products and services, track progress and identify opportunities to improve

Team facilitation

  • Work with the team to establish and maintain good team processes
  • Act as the Agile ‘product owner’ for the team’s products and services
  • Encourage and facilitate data-driven decision making in all areas of our work
  • Identify and manage dependencies on other AIPS squads or partner teams
  • Coordinate updates to stakeholders (e.g. partner steercos, AIPS showcase)

The Team

The Generative AI (GenAI) team is a practices team that sits within a much larger Artificial Intelligence & Analytics team at SEEK. We are fully dedicated to developing and advancing GenAI applications and capabilities within SEEK. We operate similarly to an internal consultancy, providing guidance, support, and resourcing for fixed-length engagements resulting in the handover of a GenAI service. As such, we do not own or operate services of our own, in contrast to other AI teams. Instead, we aim to provide the maximal benefit to SEEK by supporting and enabling GenAI as widely as possible, while also executing a targeted number of high-value GenAI initiatives to deliver new and improved customer-facing AI services.

You will report to the Principal AI Product Manager.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience building AI Products, or passion and curiosity for how to build AI Products with the ability to quickly learn about relevant technology
  • Strong problem solver: ability to work through complex and ambiguous problems, using a data-driven approach
  • Great communication skills to engage with non-technical partners and internal stakeholders on complex AI concepts
  • Ability to engage with and inspire technical teams, including building a deep understanding of the problem domain and contributing to solution design
  • An ability to break constraints and get things done, including a willingness to roll-up your sleeves and ‘pitch in’ where required

Other Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A strong learning orientation and learner’s mindset
  • Able to form connections with senior and mid-level stakeholders (including strategy, product, commercial excellence and technical team members)
  • Pragmatic – able to make trade-offs to move forward
  • Experience in translating conceptual ideas into tangible tasks, and persevering through to execute through to completion
  • Awareness of ethical and responsible AI principles, with an ability to apply these considerations in decision-making and problem-solving
