About the role
The Senior Analyst - Accounting plays a key part in month-end activities, coordinating commercial closing, trade spend, and adhoc journals within deadlines, and acts as a problem solver and "go-to person" for trade spend and accounting technical questions, communicating effectively with stakeholders and translating accounting topics to non-finance teams.
Key responsibilities
- Management of the General Ledger (GL) through ensuring accuracy and timely financials.
- Management and oversight of trade spend related accounts, including providing support and technical advice to GBS, commercial finance and related teams.
- Ensure accuracy in trade spend related P&L and B/S accounts. Preform structured and ad hoc checks to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Providing support within the Commercial function, including preparation of accruals and adhoc journals.
- Work with relevant operational functions in process improvements and streamlining.
- Adhere to all company financial policies and procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Completion of month-end processes and production of key internal financial statements including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Liaise with internal and external key stake holders to resolve queries/issues as necessary.
- Periodically assist with independent testing for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) certification.
- Assist on the external audit process.
What you bring
- Big 4 or second tier public practice experience.
- Exposure to working in a large corporate or professional accounting environment.
- Has strong attention to detail and demonstrates ability to think logically.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the appropriate levels of management in both oral and written form. Communication style is clear, precise and logical.
- Ability to perform under pressure to ensure that tight deadlines are met; ability to work with other individuals within the organization to obtain information to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- A "Team Player" demonstrating aptitude for collaboration and ability to develop and foster good working relationships with other departments.
- Self-motivated, able to plan and manage own resources to accomplish set tasks.
- Major ERP system exposure such as BPCS/SAP.
- Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and principles.
- Knowledge of US accounting standards and principles.
- Qualified accountant (e.g., CPA, CA or equivalent)
