Finance Systems Analyst – Strategic Partner & Change Driver

  • We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.  

In this pivotal role, you’ll act as a trusted bridge between Finance, IT, and our technology partner—ensuring our finance systems are not only optimised and well-supported but also aligned with broader business priorities. You’ll have the opportunity to lead conversations that shape high-impact projects, influence delivery, and future-proof Challenger’s financial operations.

Sitting within the Office of the CFO and reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance Systems, you’ll play a visible role in driving system performance, managing key relationships, and enabling innovation across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary interface between Finance and IT ensuring business needs are clearly understood, prioritised, and translated into practical solutions.
  • Confidently stakeholder relationships—balancing technical depth with clear, persuasive communication.
  • Provide proactive support and oversight of finance systems, driving timely resolution of issues and ensuring system stability.
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, design enhancements, and lead smooth integrations and upgrades.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, presenting recommendations, and gaining buy-in for innovative solutions.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues, resolve data breaks, and optimise the performance of our core financial platforms.
  • Apply strong SQL expertise to support backend processes and deliver reliable, insightful reporting.
  • Play a hands-on role in major finance system transitions and transformation projects.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a finance systems analyst role, with responsibility for both system performance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong track record of working with senior stakeholders and vendors, with the confidence to influence, negotiate, and manage expectations.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts simply and persuasively to non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable system solutions and manage end-to-end testing.
  • Adaptable, resilient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of data structures, object relationships, and reporting frameworks.
  • Experience with Workday (strongly preferred), Oracle, or SAP finance systems.
  • Familiarity with Power BI for reporting and dashboard development.
