Senior Analyst, Geopolitical Risk

Reporting to the Head of Geopolitical and Country Risk, you will play a key role in the Geopolitical and Country Risk team and part of the broader Financial Institutions Risk Group (FIG Risk) within IB&M Risk.
The Geopolitical and Country Risk Team is responsible for the management of country and geopolitical risks arising from the Group’s internationally oriented strategies across a global portfolio. The team works closely with internationally active segments of the business to provide the best risk management outcomes for our customers and stakeholders.
In this role, you will be working individually and across the team to report, analyse and manage country and geopolitical risks to CBA’s exposures and concentrations. You will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, helping simplify processes to achieve better outcomes for our customers. Geopolitical risk analysis is crucial in understanding and mitigating the potential impacts of global political events on our business operations and strategies. Proactive, data-driven analysis will inform CBA's portfolio strategy and help mitigate emerging risks.
Day to day you can expect to:
- Provide timely and relevant assessments on the impact of evolving geopolitical risks, social and macroeconomic trends on our clients and across the Group’s portfolios.
- Support the Head of Geopolitical and Country Risk provide geopolitical risk insights and develop new tools and reporting for Senior Executives across the Group.
- Use internal and external data to prepare proactive and strategic insights into the bank’s international exposures.
- Support senior risk managers to ensure transaction or portfolio risks are identified, managed, measured, monitored, and reported.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Proven experience analysing, writing and speaking about geopolitical risk, and a sound understanding of macroeconomics.
- Experience working in wholesale financial services, or a willingness to learn about the sector.
- A proactive mindset to seek out problems and find solutions.
- Solid time management and prioritisation skills; and ability to work under guidance.
- Demonstrated experience using data and visualisations to drive insights.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate across internal functions.
- High levels of curiosity and a willingness to innovate to find solutions to challenges.
