You'll be joining BDO’s leading mid-market Deal Advisory practice as a Senior Analyst, working to deliver exceptional transaction outcomes for our clients.

Your primary responsibility is to assist in the delivery of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, which will include sell side and buy side engagements, and capital advisory mandates. Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to build strong and trusted client relationships are essential to be successful.

BDO’s Deal Advisory Analysts gain exposure working across a number of industries, including, amongst others, technology (software & services), business services, and manufacturing. Many of our transactions involve private capital providers, including leading mid-market financial sponsors and venture capital investors.

The relatively flat team structure provides Analysts with significant involvement across all aspects of the lifecycle of a transaction.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build detailed 3-way financial models to evaluate transaction scenarios, valuation, and deal structures.
  • Perform company valuations using methodologies such as DCF, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
  • Develop compelling client presentations and pitch books to secure mandates, communicate strategic ideas and transaction opportunities.
  • Draft teasers, information memorandum, and other documents used to market transactions to potential buyers or investors.
  • Conduct in-depth research on industries, markets, and competitors to support deal origination and execution.
  • Support senior colleagues in managing all aspects of deal execution, including timelines, documentation, counterparty and intermediary discussions, and client communication.
  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics impacting M&A activity.
  • Work closely with the rest of the BDO Deal Advisory practice on strategy and business development.
  • Act as an ambassador of the firm, participate in marketing events, and contribute to BDO M&A national team activities.

About You

Our preferred candidate will have sound corporate finance work experience gained within a financial professional services role.

As well as the following:

  • A background in another leading accounting or boutique advisory firm, private equity, investment banking or in industry corporate development roles.
  • Professional CA and/or CFA qualifications, or similar. Applicants who are well-progressed in their studies will also be considered.
  • Degree with outstanding academic record from a leading Australian or Overseas university or business school.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for creating impactful presentations and Microsoft Excel for complex financial modelling and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including writing and research skills, and the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • ·Strong quantitative and financial analysis skills.
