Are you ready to join Payments Settlements Department and play a pivotal role in transforming risk management at the Reserve Bank of Australia?
We are seeking two risk professionals to join us in a strategic Line 1 role, supporting department leaders to uplift risk culture and progressively mature our risk management practices.
Reporting to the Line 1 Risk Manager, this newly created role is designed to enhance our management of material risks and ensure we stay ahead in an ever-evolving risk landscape.
As a Senior Analyst you will:

Provide subject matter expertise, coaching, training and/or guidance to support the business areas to implement a target uplift in risk management practices.

As part of a team of risk professionals, ensure business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, standards, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite of the RBA.

Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification and assessment of risks to achieve business objectives.

Provide risk expertise to the business in the development of credible action plans to address gaps in the business’ control environment.

Support the business to develop and implement practices strengthening operational resilience and uplifting obligations management.

Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification, logging and management of issues and incidents within the Risk Management System (RMS) to acceptable quality standards.

Provide risk advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of operational risk incidents.

Support the preparation of reporting and analytics to build awareness and transparency of material risk exposures. Track the remediation of actions to address identified risk and control deficiencies.

Ensure the quality of risk data within the RBA’s risk management system by monitoring and reporting on data hygiene.
Your Background
-
5+ years of relevant experience in a Line 1 or Line 2 operational risk and compliance role, preferably within banking or financial services.

Demonstrated risk management expertise, supporting the learning and development of business stakeholders.

Experience in design, build and implementation of risk and compliance frameworks, coaching and training.

Understanding of enterprise-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies and standards.

Experience in uplifting operational resilience and implementing operational risk management standards (e.g. CPS 230) in an APRA‑regulated organisation is highly desirable.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated negotiation and resolution management skills.

The Payments Settlements Department is responsible for the ongoing development and operation of the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS), Australia’s real-time gross settlement system. RITS settles over $250 billion of transactions per day, including high‑value payments, wholesale financial market transactions, New Payments Platform transactions, and obligations arising from retail and other payment systems. The department is also responsible for the settlement of transactions arising from the Bank's trading activities.
