There is huge demand for insights from Air NZ’s unique and complex data landscape. We need Senior Analytics Engineers to work in cross-functional squads and bring robust, efficient, and trusted AI-ready data products and solutions to life. Analytics Engineers speak the language of business and technical teams, translating business questions into trusted analytical models while building the reliable, secure and scalable foundations those models depend on.

The role you will play:

  • Develop enduring, governed and trusted analytical foundations that make complex data accessible and business-readable.
  • Enable high-quality self-service and AI-assisted analytics, allowing teams to confidently discover, understand and use trusted data.
  • Design data with both people and AI in mind, ensuring analytical products are well structured, documented and ready for emerging AI use cases.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to turn complex, ambiguous problems into well-designed analytical solutions that deliver meaningful business outcomes.
  • Set and champion analytics engineering standards and patterns, improving the quality, consistency, reusability and maintainability of analytical products across the organisation.
  • Grow capability across the craft through technical leadership, coaching and knowledge sharing.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 5+ years’ experience in analytics engineering, AI and/or BI development, data warehousing or a related data role, including delivery of complex analytical solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing scalable data models, data marts or semantic layers and leading technical solution design across multiple data sources and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong working knowledge of AI-ready data design, governance considerations, evaluation approaches and delivery frameworks that support machine consumption, including the data patterns needed for AI, ML and generative AI use cases.
  • Proven experience partnering with business leaders and SMEs to shape roadmaps, prioritise opportunities and translate ambiguous problems into actionable analytics initiatives.
  • Coaching, mentoring and peer leadership capability that grows craft maturity and uplifts delivery quality.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills across business and technology groups.
