Position Overview:

The Senior Associate / Vice President of StepStone Group Real Assets LP (“SIRA”), located in the Sydney office, will primarily be focused on SIRA’s infrastructure and real assets strategy having responsibility for working with the global SIRA team in relation to manager coverage and relationship development, originating and leading execution of investment opportunities, and supporting client business development and asset management assignments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Working with SIRA’s Partners and Principals globally as part of the team responsible for developing SIRA’s infrastructure and real assets business
  • Participating in SIRA’s infrastructure manager coverage, with support from the global team lead and broader SIRA team, including:
    • Manager meetings, relationship development, and market monitoring
    • Primary fund / manager due diligence and memorandums
  • Manage or lead investment origination and execution:
    • Co-investments alongside managers and other financial investors, including developing strong relationships with our investment partners
    • Secondary investments in funds
  • Support client management and business development activities, including:
    • Regular meetings with clients and prospective clients to develop client relationships
    • Presentation of investment opportunities and investment solutions
  • Assisting with asset management requirements as required
  • Investment monitoring and reporting, valuations and return calculations as required
  • Responsibility for the training and development of Analyst and Associate resources

Qualifications:

  • Experience of 5-7 or more years in the banking, asset management or consulting industry with a focus (at least in recent years) on infrastructure investments
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) ideally in a related field such as Business, Finance, Engineering or Economics

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Client management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead investment origination, execution and asset management activities and experience in underwriting, and project managing, primary fund / manager, co-investment or secondary due diligence
  • Ability to undertake critical research and evaluation of potential investment opportunities and sub-sectors including the ability to gain a deep understanding of the key business value drivers, risk factors, and other underwriting considerations for infrastructure investments
  • Ability to construct an argument around investment decisions and effectively communicate that argument both verbally and in written materials; be able to defend your position in a team environment, including in IC meetings
  • Knowledge of, and relationships with infrastructure managers
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, including the ability to prepare and review complex financial models
