The Senior Business Analyst - Payments is part of the Payments Tribe in ING and is a member of the Core Banking Program to define and execute on the Business Design and Strategy for the Program to deliver on intended program outcomes.

The candidate will have the opportunity to work on a large-scale transformative program and be responsible for ensuring that Payment business requirements are clearly interpreted into language that is easily understood by both a business and technical audience.

What you’ll do …

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, Solution Architects, Product Owners, Service Designers, and Customer Journey Experts to define and validate future-state business processes and requirements.

  • Elicit, document, and maintain traceable business and regulatory requirements, ensuring alignment with IT strategy and business objectives.

  • Ensure proposed IT solutions meet business needs by collaborating with architects and technical SMEs, exploring feasible alternatives when necessary.

  • Assist in the development of user stories, support development teams during implementation, and provide guidance during integration and UAT testing.

  • Design efficient, low-touch business processes that incorporate risk and regulatory requirements by design.

  • Act as a liaison between business units and delivery teams, offering ongoing support for product, system, and process-related queries.

What we’re looking for…

  • In-depth knowledge of the Australian Payments landscape (Direct Entry, BPAY, NPP, SWIFT) and hands-on experience in large-scale banking transformation programs.

  • Skilled in capturing, refining, and managing business requirements, designing efficient processes, and aligning them with strategic goals in complex environments.

  • Proven ability to work in Agile and hybrid delivery models, collaborating effectively with stakeholders including Product Owners, Architects, and Customer Journey Experts.

  • Experienced in reviewing technical solutions for business fit, managing risks and issues proactively, and ensuring traceability and prioritization of requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and ensure shared understanding across diverse delivery teams.
