Job Description

As a Senior Civil Engineer – Rail at AECOM, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Sydney’s transport infrastructure. You'll contribute to the planning, design, engineering, and project management of major rail and transit projects, including Sydney Metro City & Southwest, Sydney Metro West, Parramatta Light Rail, and the Canberra Light Rail. From initial business case development and concept design through to delivery, your expertise will support the successful implementation of transformative transport solutions across the region.

How you’ll make a difference 

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary rail design projects with a focus on station and corridor design integration
  • Coordinate across rail, track and civil disciplines to deliver complex design solutions aligned with client expectations
  • Drive digital engineering practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration across design teams
  • Build strong relationships with major Australian rail clients (e.g. Sydney Trains, Sydney Metro, ARTC) and mentor junior team members

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of civil engineering experience with a strong emphasis on track design and project delivery
  • Proven ability in design leadership, coordination and integration across multiple rail disciplines
  • Proficiency in track design tools PRT (prerequisite), OpenRail (desirable) 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; CPEng or equivalent (e.g. MICE, IEng) preferred but not essential (or a desire to work towards chartership)
