Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
A bit about your role
At nbn, we’re building more than just infrastructure—we’re building the digital backbone of Australia. As a Cloud Service Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the cloud foundations that support our national network. Sitting within our Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure - Cloud Engineering team, this role is responsible for design, build, automation and operations of cloud infrastructure & foundation frameworks that are not only robust and scalable, but also cost-effective and aligned with our broader strategic goals. You will lead the design and implementation of cloud service templates, shared services, and management systems, ensuring they are repeatable, secure, and optimised for performance.
This is a hands-on role that blends deep technical expertise with a collaborative spirit. You will work closely with internal teams, offering guidance and consultancy to uplift their cloud capabilities, while also taking ownership of complex troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives. Your work will directly influence the stability and efficiency of our cloud services, and your leadership will help embed best practices across the organisation. Whether you’re scripting automation tools, refining our service catalogue, or mentoring others, your contribution will be central to how we deliver value to our customers and communities.
A bit about you
You are a thoughtful and experienced cloud professional who thrives in complex environments and brings a sense of purpose to everything you do. With a strong background in architecting and automating cloud solutions—particularly across AWS and Azure—you are confident in your ability to design systems that are both technically sound and aligned with business needs. You have a deep understanding of Cloud foundation frameworks such as Control Tower, Security Hub, Identity & Access Management, Single Sign-On, Accounts and Management Groups; and expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform. You will be comfortable navigating a wide range of technologies, from Kubernetes (EKS), Python, NodeJS and PowerShell to enable patching, operations and security management.
But beyond your technical skills, what sets you apart is your collaborative mindset. You believe that the best solutions come from working together, and you’re passionate about sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and building systems that empower teams. You bring clarity to complexity, and you’re always looking for ways to improve processes and outcomes. With a strong customer focus and a commitment to excellence, you’re ready to help shape the future of cloud at nbn—ensuring our services are not only reliable and secure, but also sustainable and forward-thinking.
