What's so exciting about this role?
hummgroup is transitioning to a cloud‑first operating model with most platforms running in AWS. We’re seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to design, build, and mature our cloud platform - driving secure, scalable, and reliable application delivery.
In this hands‑on role, you’ll shape our internal platform standards across IaC, CI/CD, deployment patterns, observability, and automation. You’ll collaborate closely with Security, SRE & Infrastructure, Application Support, and Product Engineering to reduce friction, strengthen governance, and enhance deployment reliability.
Success in this role requires deep technical expertise, strong systems thinking, and a pragmatic balance of speed, security, and operational excellence within a regulated fintech environment.
What Does An Average Day Look Like?
No day is average at humm but here’s an idea of what you can expect to do in this role:
- Design, build, and evolve the internal AWS cloud platform, including reusable IaC modules, standardised deployment patterns, and golden paths that improve developer experience and adoption.
- Architect and operate core platform components such as EKS/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, observability frameworks, and automation tooling.
- Embed strong security, governance, and compliance controls across infrastructure, pipelines, identity, and container workflows.
- Partner with engineering, Security, SRE/Infrastructure, and Application Support teams to reduce delivery friction, improve documentation, and uplift platform capability.
- Drive end‑to‑end automation, operational reliability, and cost‑optimisation initiatives across cloud environments.
- Provide hands‑on support during critical releases, contribute to incident reviews, and mentor engineers to grow cloud and platform engineering maturity.
Who will thrive in this role?
You are a highly capable cloud engineer who combines deep technical expertise with a strong platform mindset. You understand that the best platforms are adopted, not mandated, and you measure success by how effectively engineering teams can build and deploy using the tools you provide.
We’re also looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience in Cloud/Platform/DevOps/SRE roles with strong, hands‑on experience operating production AWS environments.
- Deep capability with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform preferred) and building secure, scalable, well‑governed cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience running Kubernetes (ideally EKS), including Helm, RBAC, and full cluster lifecycle management.
- Strong CI/CD engineering skills (Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, Ansible Tower or similar) and solid scripting ability in Python, Go, or Bash.
- Strong grasp of cloud networking, IAM, security best practices, secrets management, and observability in distributed systems.
- A platform‑as‑a‑product mindset, with excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to mentor others and improve developer experience.
