Senior Cost Controller

Shape the financial performance of some of Australia's most significant infrastructure and defence projects.

KBR is delivering complex projects that strengthen communities and support critical national infrastructure across the defence, rail, road, water and energy sectors. Following continued project growth and recent project wins, we're looking for an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join our Adelaide team and play a pivotal role in driving project performance through best-practice cost management and project controls.

This position is based in Adelaide, South Australia. We welcome applications from candidates currently located interstate who hold unrestricted Australian working rights and are willing to relocate to Adelaide for the role.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Cost Controller, you'll support the successful delivery of major projects by providing accurate cost analysis, forecasting, reporting and financial insights. Working closely with Project Managers, Schedulers and Project Controllers, you'll help establish and maintain robust project controls that enable informed decision-making and strong commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts and financial reporting
  • Analyse cost performance, variances and trends, providing insights to support project decision-making
  • Support monthly reporting requirements, including Project Status Reports and Estimate at Completion (EAC) processes
  • Manage project risks and contingencies, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and project controls teams to deliver robust project controls outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with governance requirements, processes and project controls best practices
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost control processes and project efficiency
  • Provide commercial and financial insights to support successful project delivery and performance

What You’ll Bring:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years' experience in Cost Control or Project Controls within complex, multidisciplinary project environments
  • Strong experience in cost forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis
  • Demonstrated experience managing cost performance, project reporting and EAC processes
  • Exposure to variations, contingency management and gated project delivery frameworks
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with project controls systems and tools, with Primavera P6 highly regarded
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment
  • Eligibility to obtain, or current possession of, a Baseline or NV1 Security Clearance is advantageous
