The roleReporting into the Credit Team Leader the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating the credit worthiness of applicants including both low doc and Prospa Plus (full doc) applications. The successful candidate will utilise their considerable industry knowledge, commerciality & financial prowess to write business within Prospa’s risk appetite. They will be working with our customers and our sales and account management teams to assess each application thoroughly to achieve the best outcome for the customer and the business.
What you'll be doing- Coordinating the underwriting of commercial loan applications upto an exposure of $1mil.
- Bank statement analysis for up to $500K & Financial statement analysis for upto $1mil.
- Providing in-depth detailed analysis of financial statements, industry risk, and credit risk.
- Presenting deals to Credit Committee (i.e Executives, Credit Risk, Finance etc) with a comprehensive understanding of the risk and associated mitigants in each transaction, as well as providing a strong recommendation on the proposed outcome and offered insight to upper management regarding credit decisions.
- Conduct credit calls with clients and relevant stakeholders e.g. Financial Controllers, to collect additional information relevant to the proposed transaction. Also utilise strong communication and interpersonal skills to obtain necessary financial information from customers.
- Liaising with stakeholders in other areas of the business, e.g. the Head of Customer Success and National Sales Managers to provide scenario and deal workshopping support.
- Preparing clear, thorough and informative credit papers for each application.
- Comply with internal controls and government regulations.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years underwriting / Credit analyst experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field desirable but not necessary
- Previously held a DLA (delegated lending authority)
- Experience in commercial lending
- Experience with business financial documents such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets, AR/RP
- Strong credit risk acumen and commercial judgement
- Experience with property secured lending is advantageous
- Familiarity with personal and company credit reports, ASIC searches, and other various background information
