Do work that matters

As a Senior Data Scientist within the Business Bank’s Customer, Channels and Data AI Centre of Excellence (AiCE), you will assist in the development, monitoring, implementation and management of models supporting our journey of transforming the practice of Business Banking across Australia.

From applying Generative AI to better support knowledge and decision management functions, to activating agent oriented AI design patterns to better automate and drive results, you will be familiar with the latest and most exciting patterns in AI and Data Science development that may support this mission objective.

You will work closely with key business stakeholders in the Business Bank, from our front line segment colleagues, through to our top of house risk and controls functions, while navigating the full breadth of Business Bank product and financial services design and delivery functions. Your AI and Data Science perspective will be informed by your experience in the financial services or financial technology domains.

 

As a member of the Business Bank’s AI Centre of Excellence, you will be at the forefront of the application of Artificial Intelligence to drive decisions, optimise outcomes and improve financial performance, with Australia’s leading Business Bank, supporting Australia’s leading corporations, in Australia’s leading economic growth story.

You will have a passion for the Australian economy, the role of the private sector in driving economic growth and the opportunities for CBA to best assist and support Australian corporations grow and expand in the new AI and data driven economy.

 

We are seeking people who are:

  • Passionate about building market leading commercial, statistical, financial modelling assets that utilises state of the art data science and pricing techniques!

  • Excited about tackling new challenging business problems in Data Science

  • Adept with using a combination of commercial and technical Data Science models to find unique solutions in adding strategic value to the business.

  • Collaborative in nature to work with product teams, curious enough to solve data problems and courageous in positively influencing senior stakeholders

  • Natural leaders that enjoy mentoring people within a team and want to help foster a positive and inclusive culture that promotes development and growth

  • Constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex data science problems

 

We are also interested in hearing from people who:

  • Can collaborate with key business areas, including Product and Pricing, to provide implementable pricing modelling/analytical solutions and insights to drive profitable growth and productivity.

  • Are experienced in applying high complexity data science techniques to large and unstructured data within a corporate environment

  • Have a natural talent to educate, communicate and positively influence a diverse and large group of stakeholders and cross-functional teams

Tech skills:

  • We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with financial and statistical modelling (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this role!

  • Demonstrated experience in Pricing, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science or Financial Modelling, Computer Science or software engineering

  • Proficient in building and implementing traditional statistical models and ML models, using Python and/or R or an equivalent rapid prototyping language

  • Proficient in SQL, e.g. Teradata SQL, including big data analysis and query techniques.

  • Experience in working with Big Data Platforms, e.g. Hadoop/HDFS, Omnia and etc, using Hive and/or Spark

  • Experience across Cloud, elastic compute platforms and GPU or AI Accelerated computing.

  • Ability to leverage Generative AI solutions, for software development to document or language analysis, including image generation skills.

  • Experience across Multi-Modal Foundational and API served Large Models.

  • Ability to operate and deploy within an open-source environment, leveraging PyPI, CRAN or Hugging Face Transformers libraries to jump start a development pathway
