Senior DevOps Engineer- 18 months max term contract

This 18-month contract is your chance to make a real impact as the critical bridge between Development and Production teams at one of the world's leading online trading platforms. You'll spend around 90% of your time on project delivery where you’ll be building the tools, automation, and platforms that transform how engineering teams work. Your work will directly reduce friction, accelerate delivery, and make life better for dozens of engineers across the organisation.

This role offers genuine technical depth. You'll design full-stack Infrastructure as Code environments, own CI/CD pipelines that matter, and evaluate emerging technologies that could reshape how the organisation operates. You'll gain experience in both on-premises modernisation and cloud environments, broadening your skillset in ways that will serve your career for years to come.

What you’ll be working on

You'll lead complex DevOps implementations, introduce technologies that enhance reliability and scalability, and develop automation solutions that create efficiency gains across multiple teams. This role leans towards on-premises modernisation while still valuing cloud experience, giving you exposure to diverse infrastructure approaches.

• Build tools, patterns, templates and best-practice pipelines for development teams.

• Improve developer experience (DX) across the organisation through thoughtful automation and self-service capabilities.

• Deliver CI/CD enhancements, observability solutions, and automation that accelerates application teams.

• Create scalable, reusable internal services that multiple teams can leverage.

• Contribute to business logic where your input adds value.

• Build dashboards, pipelines, templates and tooling aligned with industry best practice.

• Design and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environments using Terraform and related tools.

• Integrate observability capabilities across services, enabling proactive monitoring and incident prevention.

What will help you be successful?

To be successful in this role, you'll bring a solid development background. We're looking for engineers who understand Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software engineering best practices because you'll be building robust internal platforms and services. You'll have specialist experience in SRE or DevOps roles and feel confident working with C# .NET Framework which is our core language.

Your toolkit likely includes Terraform, Octopus Deploy, and GitHub for CI/CD work, and you're comfortable scripting in PowerShell, Bash, Golang, or Python depending on what the task needs. You've implemented observability tools before and know how to make systems visible and understandable. Just as importantly, you're someone who champions improvement, communicates clearly across teams, and enjoys mentoring others.

Bonus points if you've worked with TypeScript, have AWS experience under your belt, or come from financial services, but these aren't deal-breakers.
