The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Senior Drainage Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of drainage systems for various infrastructure projects. This role involves overseeing stormwater management systems, implementing flood mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to Australian standards, regulations, and environmental guidelines.
In this key role you will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and local government authorities, to deliver effective and sustainable drainage solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design stormwater drainage systems for various projects, ensuring effective water management and compliance with environmental guidelines.
  • Perform hydrological and hydraulic analyses, and design culverts, channels, detention basins, using software like 12d, AutoCAD, and StormCAD.
  • Collaborate with project teams and clients, providing technical support during construction to ensure proper installation and compliance with Australian Standards.
  • Conduct drainage assessments, prepare reports, and monitor stormwater systems to ensure compliance with local council and environmental regulations.
  • Incorporate sustainable design principles, liaise with government bodies and contractors, and deliver presentations to clients and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, with experience in drainage engineering or a related area.

  • Proven experience in designing and managing drainage systems for civil infrastructure projects, and proficiency in drainage design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and StormCAD.

  • Strong understanding of hydrological and hydraulic analysis techniques, with knowledge of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and floodplain management.

  • Familiarity with local council regulations and approval processes for drainage project.
