Let’s talk about the Electronics Engineering Team: 

The Electronics Team in Product Development is responsible for designing and developing all the electronic parts within our devices. This work includes elements of component selection, supplier management, calculation, simulation, design, verification including compliance testing, and troubleshooting prototype issues. The team handles the transfer of designs to manufacturing. 

The Electronics Team collaborates closely with Project management, and the other key engineering disciplines of Systems, Mechanical, and Software. The Team also works cross functionally and liaises regularly with other departments such as Product Management, Global Supplier Alliance, Quality, Regulatory, Medical Affairs and Manufacturing. 

The Power Team within Electronics Team is responsible for developing the products and subsystems that deliver and manage power across the entire portfolio of devices. This includes technologies that enable safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our systems, from mains-powered solutions to battery-driven devices. 

Its output includes power electronics, battery systems, charging solutions, and energy management subsystems that ensure devices perform consistently in diverse environments.  

As Resmed’s portfolio of devices evolve and expand globally, the Power Team plays a critical role in enabling innovation, ensuring compliance with demanding regulatory standards, and ultimately delivering dependable therapy to millions of patients worldwide. 

Let’s talk about Responsibilities 
  • Technical leadership of electronics designs in accordance with business priorities including specification and development of new products potentially delivering revenue of hundreds of millions of dollars. 

  • Optimisation of analysis, review, testing, certification and documentation of new electronic designs. 

  • Ensure new electronic designs are successfully transitioned to prototype and volume production at electronics contract manufacturers in accordance with project needs. 

  • Coordination of technical problem solving activities including root cause analysis, solution design and validation. 

  • Anticipation of challenges faced by the team, and proactive implementation of measures to address project risks. 

  • Engagement of team members across the organisation to ensure working methods/processes are robust and optimised. 

  • Coaching and mentoring of engineers within the group as a subject matter expert. 

  • Identification of opportunities for improvement of skills and knowledge across the team, and support of others to achieve organisational goals. 

  • May include liaising and managing outsourced product development. 
      

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience 
 

Required: 
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent, and an extensive knowledge of electronic components and design technologies. 

  • You have substantial experience in a product development environment creating high quality, volume products. 

  • You have expertise in battery technologies and design of battery management systems, including chemistry, lifetime factors, safety, fuel gauging, and compliance with global battery regulations. 

  • You have been primarily responsible for the successful integration/development of a complex electronics board level design and transferred it into production. 

  • You are able to provide technical leadership to a team based on this experience. 

  • You must be an effective and frequent communicator with team members, peers, managers and external stakeholders particularly when there are roadblocks to development progress. 

  • You have proven experience in supplier engagement, from evaluation and selection through to ongoing collaboration and quality assurance. 

 

Preferred:  

  • You have experience in the medical device, or other industry, where product quality is most important.
