The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Human Resources Manager to lead and execute all HR functions for our Australian operations while partnering closely with our global HR team. This is a hands-on, senior role ideal for an experienced HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment and enjoys both strategic ownership and operational execution.

This role is a full-time position located in oneZero's Sydney or Canberra office.  Applicants must be based in either the Sydney or Canberra region, or be willing to relocate.

What You’ll Do

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy and accountability across all HR functions, while mentoring and leading HR staff.

Core Responsibilities

  • Independently manage and execute all HR processes and practices, including:
    • Benefits administration
    • Recruitment and staffing
    • Performance management
    • Payroll administration
    • Employment law compliance (with strong focus on Australian regulations)
    • Training and development
    • Workplace health and safety

HR Systems & Operations

  • Manage key HR systems, including:
    • Payroll, ensuring Superannuation and payroll tax compliance in collaboration with Finance
    • Recruitment systems, including applicant tracking and interview coordination

Talent & Recruitment

  • Partner with hiring managers to develop role-specific recruitment strategies
  • Draft compelling job advertisements and identify effective sourcing channels
  • Proactively source candidates and manage direct recruitment efforts
  • Oversee interviews, candidate selection, offer negotiation, and onboarding
  • Manage external recruitment agencies when required

Year-End & Compensation Processes

  • Contribute to the end-of-year performance review and calibration processes
  • Manage compensation reviews, title changes, and communications
  • Maintain job architecture, role grading, and market compensation benchmarks

Leadership & Development

  • Supervise and develop HR staff and office support personnel
    • Set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and coach team members
  • Train managers on HR systems, employment regulations, and people management best practices
  • Support leaders with conflict resolution and performance planning

Culture & Workplace Experience

  • Oversee onboarding, employee records, and compliance documentation
  • Partner with building management and service providers to maintain a safe, positive work environment
  • Coordinate employee engagement, morale, and team events
  • Actively contribute to a culture of high performance, collaboration, and employee well-being

Requirements

  • Relevant 4-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 8–10 years of HR experience, including 5+ years in a demonstrated leadership role within Australia
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment law and HR best practices
  • Proven experience with payroll systems and HR management platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle sensitive and difficult conversations
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and mentor others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Interest in technology or financial services is a plus
