About the role
As a Senior/Lead Analyst in the CFR team within the Financial Stability Department, you will play an important role in delivering the Council’s program of work to continue to strengthen the resilience of the Australian financial system.
The CFR team leads in coordinating the Council’s program, which brings together the RBA, APRA, ASIC and the Treasury on a number of priority areas. As part of the team, you will grapple with some of the key policy issues facing the Australian financial system and contribute to delivering on the Council’s priorities through a range of working groups and forums.
The role is expected to be for a 2-year fixed term contract or internal secondment, with an initial focus on a particular CFR work program launched this year, as well as contributing to the broader activities of the team. This will include enhancing our capabilities to plan for and respond to instances of financial instability, working closely with CFR agencies on identifying and assessing potential systemic vulnerabilities in the financial system, and helping deliver high-quality analysis and policy advice to the CFR.
This is a cross-cutting role and you will engage on a daily basis with the other agencies on the Council, as well as with other parts of the Financial Stability Department and other Departments at the RBA. It is open to applicants at a Lead analyst or Senior analyst level.
About you
To be successful in this role you will:

Have experience in the monitoring and analysis of policy and regulatory developments in the economy and/or financial system.

Think strategically about a broad range of complex policy issues, displaying an aptitude for problem-solving and thought leadership.

Display strong interpersonal and communication skills which you can leverage to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Be able to work in an independent and highly organised manner, to judge what issues are most important and to re-prioritise quickly as circumstances change.

Hold a degree in Economics, Finance or a related field, with a strong foundation in economic and/or financial principles. Previous experience in policy development or risk management roles in the Australian financial system is desirable, but is not a prerequisite.
