A Snapshot 

As Senior Legal Counsel, Commercial Operations, you will report to the Senior Director – Legal Corporate and collaborate closely with various teams and leadership across the APJ region, marking your mark in a number of ways;  

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Advising on and shaping commercial procurement solutions throughout AirTrunk, which will involve working with key business teams to design, negotiate and finalise commercial contracting structures across the APJ region, enabling the rapid expansion of AirTrunk data centre developments across APJ.
  • Driving and delivering on various strategic initiatives and workstreams, providing oversight, guidance and support to ensure success and seamless delivery of business critical workstreams.
  • Developing, honing and utilising skills and expertise across various related practice streams including privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property and other regulatory matters.  

Your Day to Day  

  • Provide strategic legal advice on various operations, information technology and corporate services procurement workstreams, leveraging support from external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Collaborate with operations, information technology and corporate services teams to architect procurement solutions to complex matters, whilst ensuring achievement of business goals, alignment with multiple stakeholder groups and compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Working seamlessly with business teams to identify and evaluate new procurement strategies and initiatives to further streamline commercial procurement activities, including through development of precedents, precedent guidelines, playbooks and business training as required to facilitate successful execution of such strategies.
  • Working closely with various teams to review, negotiate, and finalise commercial procurement documentation, including master services agreements, statements of work and related documentation.   
  • Assess and manage legal and regulatory risks within commercial operations and procurement, privacy, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure space, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations across relevant jurisdictions within the APJ region, aligning practices with industry standards.
  • Monitor and address emerging legal and regulatory issues impacting commercial operations and procurement, privacy, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure.  
  • Lead initiatives to enhance awareness, compliance, and improve processes within AirTrunk, including through policy development and training programs. 

Requirements  

  • Law degree from an accredited law school and current practicing certificate
  • Minimum of 8+ years with general corporate or commercial procurement experience gained from a reputable law firm and also ideally within an in-house environment
  • Experience in advising across a wide spectrum of commercial procurement workstreams including information technology, with experience in privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity and regulatory spaces highly desirable.  
  • Experience with data centre industry and/or across Asia Pacific & Japan highly regarded but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement, commercial acumen and problem solving skills to a range of complex matters, whilst delivering practical legal advice that manages risk and aligns with best practice
  • Ability to autonomously and efficiently manage, drive and/or oversee multiple workstreams, priorities and stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.  
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, relationship building and stakeholder management skills on significant matters, including ability to reconcile multiple stakeholder views to drive results on significant, business critical workstreams  
  • Proven track record in people management and leadership to deliver excellent results   
  • Enjoys being challenged, has a "can do" attitude, is prepared to go above and beyond and is eager to learn and develop an in-depth knowledge of AirTrunk's business and operations
