The Opportunity
This exciting legal role puts you at the center of key initiatives that drive the business, and calls for a smart, dynamic individual who is collaborative, creative, and functions well in a fast-moving, constantly evolving environment.
Joining a large and highly successful in-house legal function at eBay, you will be providing a broad spectrum of advice to business teams. Your role will include:
- Providing proactive, forward-thinking, and creative guidance to the Australian Business unit.
- Preparing, negotiating and reviewing general commercial contracts, terms and conditions, technology agreements, licensing agreements and service agreements
- Collaborating with counterparts in other legal teams to provide consistent advice that keeps the big picture in mind
- Regular partnership with functional groups within the Company on both transactional work and risk analysis, including Finance, Accounting, Corporate Development, Product, Marketing, Tax, Information Security, Privacy, Trust, Risk
- Leading special projects/initiatives and other duties as may be assigned
Ideal experience will include
- Ability to provide advice and support in a wide range of areas including, but not limited to commercial, consumer protection, intellectual property, data sharing, and regulatory matters
- Proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating expense and revenue contracts with third party service providers
- Outstanding legal and analytical skills, including rapid issue spotting and working with the business to prioritize, analyze, and mitigate risk effectively
Main Requirements
- Work location: Sydney, Australia.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with general knowledge of business practices at large national or international company preferred
- Fluency in English.
- Flexible and agile problem solver, with the ability to tolerate ambiguity
- Demonstrated ability to balance legal and business risk with commercial opportunity
- Strong communication skills and comfort addressing both junior staff and senior leaders
- Self-motivated, self-directed, and capable of working with minimal direction
- Ability to navigate large teams, collaborate effectively, and drive decision making
- Good sense of humor and a genuine interest in relationship building across teams
