We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of the Commercial team, you will play a pivotal role in enabling deals with key customers, partners, and suppliers, overseeing risk and compliance, and supervising the legal team. The Senior Legal Counsel will be a key driver of our success, ensuring we hit strategic goals while staying compliant with all laws and regulations.

In this role, you'll partner with various stakeholders, navigate complex legal issues, negotiate high-value contracts, and create legal strategies that drive our business forward. You’ll manage commercial contracts, offer expert legal advice across functions, and manage the risks tied to our operations.

This is a permanent part-time opportunity based in Sydney. The role requires availability for two and-a-half-day workweek, with flexibility on which days you work and the hours you choose. It’s ideal for someone looking for a part-time position with a shorter work week.

Key Responsibilities ;

  • Support contract management, including negotiation, dispute resolution, and the preparation of necessary documentation.

  • Primarily review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including client contracts, statements of work, vendor agreements, and partnership deals.

  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations, effectively identify and manage legal risks, and align with the Group's business goals.

  • Stay updated on and interpret changes in laws and regulations impacting the technology consulting industry, ensuring the company remains compliant with areas such as privacy regulations, modern slavery laws, AI, and legal innovation. This also involves liaising with our parent company to ensure policy and risk compliance is maintained.

  • Recognize potential legal risks and recommend strategies to minimize them.

  • Represent the company in negotiations and disputes with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities.

  • Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to offer legal support and advice.

  • Mentor and supervise legal team member, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
     

Skills Required;

  • A qualified lawyer with demonstrated expertise in commercial law

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial law, ideally with a focus on Technology, Consulting and In-house roles

  • Extensive knowledge in commercial law, contract negotiation, data protection, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance

  • Proven success in negotiating high-value, complex contracts

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information to diverse audiences

  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgment

  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
