Position Summary

Create the unthinkable and #ReimagineYourFuture with Samsung, one of the most successful and fastest growing technology companies in the world. We are a dynamic business, launching an incredible number and range of new products every year. We firmly believe that our product ecosystem and portfolio of innovation set our brand apart.
We have an exciting opportunity for a technically minded Senior Legal Counsel to join Samsung Electronics Australia!
Reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance, you will provide considered, high quality legal advice across a broad range of matters and business units within Australia. This is a wide-ranging role suited to a technically capable Senior Legal Counsel who can also support the company’s broader legal and compliance initiatives and engage stakeholders and external consultants at varying levels or seniority.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Providing advice across a broad range of legal matters, including general corporate and commercial issues, employment law, insolvency and securities law, competition and consumer law, intellectual property, privacy, and general litigation matters.

  • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing a wide variety of agreements and contracts for stakeholders at all levels of the business.

  • Reviewing marketing, website and social media materials to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

  • Assisting with the day‑to‑day operation of Samsung’s legal and compliance program, including contributing to policy development, training and risk management initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate law degree, with admission as a legal practitioner in Australia (essential).

  • 7–10 years’ PQE, ideally gained in a high‑performing in‑house team or top‑tier law firm; exposure to industries such as FMCG, logistics, customer service or telecommunications is highly regarded.

  • Broad legal experience across the areas outlined above, with the ability to provide technically strong and commercially sound advice.

  • Demonstrated capability in negotiating large, complex commercial agreements, including end‑to‑end contract management, negotiation and procurement terms.

  • Proven ability to manage matters independently in a fast‑paced, complex environment, with strong stakeholder engagement skills across all levels of the business.

  • Experience with privacy matters—not essential, but highly valued given the volume of work in this area.
