Our Legal team is looking for an in-house Senior Legal Counsel. This role is responsible for providing effective, efficient, proactive, timely and cost-effective legal advice and guidance to enable business operations.

Senior Legal Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to key internal clients on a broad range of complex legal, regulatory, policy, compliance, and business issues and is responsible for providing effective, efficient, proactive, timely and cost-effective legal advice and guidance to enable business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with and supporting internal clients by providing practical, effective, efficient, timely and cost-effective legal advice on a range of legal topics.
  • Lead and manage complex legal matters, ensuring the company’s interests are protected.
  • Teaming with internal clients to support business objectives by providing legal training, improving processes, sharing knowledge, and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Working collaboratively with Raytheon Australia and wider Raytheon and RTX Legal, Contracts, and Compliance teams.
  • Managing legal compliance and effectively implementing legal compliance programs and frameworks.
  • In close collaboration with specialist colleagues at Raytheon and RTX:
    • Providing legal advice on employment law matters.
    • Providing legal advice on, and managing the review, negotiation, and drafting of, commercial real estate leases.
    • Providing legal and compliance advice on environment, health, and safety matters.
    • Maintaining corporate records and assisting the Company Secretary with the preparation, maintenance, and filing of corporate documents in accordance with applicable laws and the company’s constitution.
    • Providing legal advice on intellectual property matters.
    • Providing legal advice on, and managing, disputes and litigation involving Raytheon Australia.
    • Provide legal and compliance advice on contract and supply chain matters.
    • Drafting and maintaining legal policies.
  • Working with leaders across the business to ensure operations are in line with Raytheon Australia, Raytheon, and RTX policies and procedures.
  • Engaging outside legal counsel where required and effectively managing costs to achieve value for money.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A Degree in Law and current Practising Certificate in an Australian State or Territory.
  • Admission as a lawyer in an Australian State or Territory.
  • Minimum of 10 years prior relevant experience (when a University Degree is held).
  • Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of legal areas generally needed to support large commercial entities.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of privacy, commercial real estate, labour, and employment disciplines within the Function / Product Line and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs, or systems.
  • Post-admission experience as a lawyer in private practice and/or an in-house legal role.
  • Experience in a commercial environment in a law firm and/or in-house.
