About the Role

We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Business Services team based in Melbourne. With a strong focus on delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services to SMEs, private family groups, and high-net-worth individuals, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to work across a diverse range of industries.

About the Team

The Business Services group ensures our clients’ success by adding value in every aspect of their business through the provision of world-class strategic advisory and compliance services. BDO's business advisers understand growth and success in the Australian and international markets and focus on helping our clients understand their business and provide practical strategies to help them succeed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing financial statements in accordance with regulatory, accounting, and financial reporting standards

  • Preparing income tax returns for companies, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals

  • Delivering outsourced finance function and CFO advisory services, including management reporting and three-way forecasting

  • Providing a range of business and tax advisory services

  • Supporting client relationships and liaising directly with clients and internal stakeholders

  • Assisting in mentoring and supporting junior team members

About You
 

Our ideal candidate is a high achiever by nature and thrives on delivering successful outcomes combined with your highly developed commercial skills and genuine desire to provide bespoke solutions to our clients.

We’re also looking for the following skills and attributes:

  • clear and effective communications skills and the ability to relate to others

  • can adapt style to suit different audiences, and ability to explain complex issues in simple terms

  • self-driven and assumes responsibility and accountability for jobs allocated to them and striving to adhere to short- and long-term deadlines

  • strong digital skills including a good working knowledge of MS Office applications, cloud accounting platforms and add-ons

  • an innovative and growth mindset that can bring new ideas to the table

Qualifications and Experience

  • Prior accounting experience in an accounting firm environment will be highly regarded

  • CA/CPA qualified is a must

  • General consulting exposure to a range of clients.
