About Us

Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest regional, domestic, and international airline. Qantas has a range of subsidiary businesses that support the overall operations of the Group. The Qantas Group’s main business is the transportation of customers and freight using two complementary airline brands — Qantas and Jetstar — operating regional, domestic, and international services.

Job Description

  • Help shape the future of aviation by leading Qantas Group’s climate strategy.
  • Drive enterprise-wide strategy, investment, and transformation to decarbonise one of Australia’s most iconic companies.
  • Permanent role based at our Mascot Campus.

At Qantas, innovation has always been at the heart of what we do and now, and now it is driving our transition to a more sustainable future. Our Group Sustainability team plays a central role in this transformation — developing the strategy, partnerships, and investments needed to reach our climate goals and strengthen the long-term resilience of the business.

As Senior Manager, Climate Change Strategy, you’ll drive the development and delivery of the Qantas Group’s long-term climate strategy. You’ll lead cross-functional work across our decarbonisation pillars, investment strategy, and strategic planning to ensure our approach is ambitious, credible, and commercially sound. Working directly with senior executives and the Board, you’ll inform key decisions across sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), carbon markets, sustainable operations, policy advocacy and the Qantas Climate Fund.

The role combines first principles, strategic thinking with execution: you’ll develop the analysis, frameworks, and business cases that inform key executive and Board decisions, while coordinating delivery across teams in Fleet, Operations, Finance, and Sustainability. You’ll also play a key role in tracking progress against our climate targets and ensuring alignment with global best practice.

If you have a background in top-tier consulting or corporate strategy and are looking to apply your skills to a complex, high-impact challenge — this is an opportunity to help define the future of aviation sustainability.

You’ll have –

  • 5+ years’ experience in top-tier strategy consulting (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Kearney ect) or corporate strategy / sustainability strategy roles.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Economics, Engineering, Law, or Environmental Science/Sustainability or relevant areas.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise strategy.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with experience building business cases and evaluating strategic options.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capability, including senior executive / c-suite engagement.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives through to delivery.
  • A genuine interest in sustainability and the decarbonisation of industry.
