Job DescriptionAt Jetstar, we’re not just flying people around the region — we’re reshaping how modern airlines create value. As our Senior Manager, Commercial Strategy, you’ll sit at the centre of a $5B+ revenue portfolio, leading the strategic response to one of the biggest shifts our industry has ever seen: modern retailing, dynamic offers, and AI-enabled distribution.
This is a rare opportunity to define how Jetstar monetises its product portfolio end-to-end — across flight products, ancillaries, loyalty, digital, and indirect channels — and to ensure the whole truly becomes greater than the sum of its parts.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll own and drive Jetstar’s overarching commercial strategy, working shoulder-to-shoulder with product leaders across the business. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who blends strategic rigour with commercial judgement and influence. We’re looking for a commercially minded strategist who thrives in complexity and knows how to influence outcomes without relying on hierarchy.
Key areas of focus include:
- Whole-of-portfolio commercial strategy
Synthesising individual product strategies into a single, prioritised commercial roadmap with clear investment logic and portfolio-level outcomes. - Embedded product strategy leadership
Leading and developing a team of Commercial Strategy Leads who are embedded within product teams — co-authoring strategies, challenging thinking, and strengthening commercial outcomes. - Distribution & modern retailing strategy
Owning Jetstar’s forward-looking channel and distribution strategy, including OOSD, AI-enabled selling, digital platforms, indirect channels, and next-generation retailing models. - Commercial thought leadership
Bringing external market intelligence, global benchmarking, and emerging trends to shape strategic decisions and investment narratives at senior leadership level. - Commercial transformation
Identifying the strategic capabilities that will unlock Jetstar’s next phase of growth and ensuring the portfolio continues to evolve in line with customer behaviour, technology, and competitive dynamics.
You’ll bring:
- 7+ years’ experience in commercial strategy, portfolio management, revenue or distribution roles (airline, travel, or comparable consumer sectors preferred)
- Background in top-tier management consulting or equivalent strategic roles highly regarded
- Strong understanding of modern retailing, airline distribution, OOSD, or AI-enabled selling (or the curiosity and capability to master it quickly)
- A proven ability to build compelling business cases and influence senior decision-makers
- Exceptional communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills
- A track record of developing high-performing teams in matrix environments
- An MBA or postgraduate qualification is highly regarded but not essential
