Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Onshore Growth, the Senior Manager (Community and Regional Development) is responsible for driving the social license strategy and regional economic development for Onshore Growth at Iberdrola Australia.
As part of Iberdrola Australia’s Onshore Development Team working with State Leads and Development Managers, the role includes collaboration with other business units, members of the Executive Team, and a close working relationship with the Executive Manager Engagement & Social License (who has remit across broader organisation).
ResponsibilitiesGeneral Responsibility and Skills
- Oversee and participate in community, stakeholder and First Nations engagement.
- Comprehensive and strong written and communication skills.
- Excellent leadership skills, deep understanding of regional communities and proven experience in direct engagement with regional communities and key stakeholders.
Community Engagement
- Responsible for ensuring community engagement activities and initiatives align with community expectations for each project and ensures consistency across the portfolio.
- Participate and oversee the delivery of community engagement events and programs, including overseeing the management of internal and external relationships to support projects in development.
- Review and oversee the implementation of community and stakeholder engagement plans.
Stakeholder Management
- Within the parameters of our corporate policies and processes, manage project development complaints and ensure internal and regulatory compliance .
- Oversee the management of auditable stakeholder complaints and land databases, and manage notification of agreement expirations, extensions, and renewals.
- Coordinate required content and participate in internal and external audits of complaints management system.
- Provide support to the Development Team where required and particularly where critical stakeholder matters arise.
Community Investment and Regional Economic Development
- Provide strategic direction and lead the implementation of community investment to deliver long lasting social, environmental and economic benefits to regional communities in which we operate.
- Build partnerships and identify opportunities with communities and external stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategies across the onshore development portfolio to support opportunities for regional employment, local procurement, skills development, and infrastructure enhancement.
- Work closely with the Executive Manager, Social License & Engagement to ensure alignment with company objectives.
First Nations Engagement
- Lead the business unit team’s development and implementation of First Nations strategies
- Build and maintain high level and trusted relationships with Traditional Owner Groups and First Nations organisations.
- Promote First Nations employment, procurement, traineeships, scholarships and business partnerships.
- Contribute to Iberdrola Australia’s First Nations strategies and initiatives through collaboration with the Executive Manager Social License & Engagement and our external advisors
- Bachelor / Master in Communications, Policy, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, Science, Planning, Law, Property, Social Science or other relevant qualification will all be considered.
- Knowledge of project management, team management, planning processes, major infrastructure projects, the Australian energy market
- Driven individual with professional experience in resources, energy or consulting (preferably wind, solar or BESS), planning and working with multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of the social and environmental impacts of renewable energy projects.
- Experience in direct community and stakeholder engagement in regional areas
- Experience developing and managing community engagement programmes and working collaboratively with internal and external teams and stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, team management and strategic skills
- Demonstrated landholder and stakeholder liaison experience
- Demonstrated relationship management skills
- Efficient and effective project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including curation of communications collateral
- Prior use of software such as Borealis (or other stakeholder management platforms) and experience in report analysis
- Demonstrated use of initiative and a common-sense approach
- Best practice negotiation and influence skills
- Successful development and management of relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders
- Successful coordination of internal team inputs through the development phases
- Effective resolution of project development issues
- IAP2 certification or similar engagement credentials
- As a worker, you must comply so far as reasonably practicable, with any reasonable instruction that is given by Iberdrola Australia to comply with health and safety requirements
- Ability to travel to sites and work remotely
- Ability to attend regional events and activations outside normal hours of business
- Full Drivers’ licence
