At RSM, we’re looking for an experienced Indirect Tax Senior Manager to join our Melbourne team. This is a technically challenging and rewarding role, working across a diverse client portfolio while playing a key part in developing our people and growing the business.

The Opportunity

As a senior leader within our Indirect Tax team, you’ll provide strategic GST and indirect tax advice across a broad range of industries including financial services, property, transport and logistics, and cross-border matters.

You’ll work closely with clients as a trusted advisor, lead complex engagements, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the division through strong client relationships and business development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality GST and indirect tax advisory services across a diverse client base

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing queries and delivering exceptional service

  • Manage ATO reviews and audit processes

  • Oversee billing, WIP and budget management for engagements

  • Identify client needs and deliver tailored, commercial solutions

  • Build and strengthen client relationships, identifying opportunities for further work

  • Contribute to thought leadership and innovative solutions for complex tax issues

  • Lead, coach and mentor team members, fostering a high-performing and supportive culture

About you:

You’re a commercially minded Indirect Tax professional with a passion for delivering high-quality advice and building lasting client relationships. With strong technical expertise and proven leadership experience, you enjoy mentoring others, driving team performance, and identifying opportunities to grow the business. You bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach and thrive in a collaborative environment where you can make a genuine impact.

About You

  • 8+ years’ experience within Professional Services

  • Proven experience leading and developing teams (3–4+ years)

  • Strong business development capability with a client-first mindset

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, Commerce or Finance (Accounting major)

  • CA qualified or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Law or double degree, or Master of Tax
