The Senior Manager, Internal and IR Communications is responsible for managing the strategic direction and delivery of employee communications to major frontline workgroups. The purpose of this role is to support the objectives for all operational areas (including Engineering, Flight Operations, Cabin Crew, Freight and Airports) across the Qantas Group, particularly in terms of increasing engagement. 
 
This role will have oversight of a small team that is embedded within our operations and Group Internal Communications team to plan and implement strategic communications activities across some of the largest parts of the workforce. As a senior member of the Corporate Affairs team, the role also involves providing leadership and guidance on communications matters across the Qantas Group where required – for example large industrial relations projects and issues and crisis management. 
 
The Qantas Group has more than 30,000 employees based across Australia and overseas, and this role will lead consistent, open and transparent communications to key workgroups to ensure our teams remain up to date, connected with leadership, and engaged through numerous channels.

You’ll have –

  • 10+ years’ experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, public relations or equivalent.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling messages that provides all levels of
    employees with a clear understanding of the business strategy and values. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to drive high performance culture. 
  • Proven experience in working with senior executive management and unionised
    workforces. 
  • Strategic understanding of communication and its role within a large organisation. 
  • Proven experience in a communication role and understanding of internal
    communications.  
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing constructive working
    relationships throughout an organisation.
  • Ability to manage a number of programs simultaneously in a fast paced, industrial
    environment across multiple stakeholders. 
  • Strong attention to detail and strategic employee engagement experience.
  • Business planning and implementation skills.
  • Agility and resilience to drive the change agenda.
  • Strong relationship building skills and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation.
