What You Will Get To Do:

The Manager, Line 1 Risk is responsible for assisting with the implementation and overseeing operational risks and controls within the first line of defence. This role encompasses risk and incident management, audit preparedness, and business continuity management (BCM), ensuring operational resilience, effective risk mitigation, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Manager will also assist in driving proactive control management, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain robust governance across business operations.

  • Assist in maintaining and managing Line 1 risk control framework across operational areas.

  • Help identify, design, implement, and monitor controls aligned with organisational risk appetite.

  • Assist in conducting risk assessments, control testing, process reviews, and assurance activities.

  • Support the development and implementation of action plans to prevent control failures.

  • Collaborate with operational teams to embed controls into daily activities.

  • Prepare for audits, serve as the primary audit contact, and assist with remediation of findings.

  • Manage operational risk incidents end-to-end, including logging, investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution.

  • Support business continuity planning and annual BCP testing, aligned with ISO 22301 and COSO.

  • Assist in the facilitation of risk workshops and training, collaborating with senior stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Operations.

  • Maintain risk registers, dashboards, and reporting for control effectiveness, audit outcomes, and KRIs.

  • Analyse risk data to identify trends and support continuous improvement in risk mitigation.

What You Will Bring:

  • 3 -5+ years’ experience in risk control management and audit preparation within financial services.

  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, RCSA, KRIs, and relevant regulations (APRA, ASIC).

  • Experience in Transfer Agency, Fund Accounting, Fund Services, or asset management operations.

  • Skilled in audit preparation, compliance reporting, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective action plans.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills, engaging senior leadership, auditors, and cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient in data analysis and risk reporting using Excel and Power BI, driving a risk-aware culture and continuous improvement.
