Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join us on a 6‑month contract, working on complex, high‑availability networks with opportunities to influence design, performance and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L2/L3 support across core network and roadside network environments.
  • Maintain high network availability, security compliance, PCI DSS and timely patching.
  • Monitor network performance and resolve issues proactively.
  • Manage incidents, service requests and changes within SLA and ITIL processes.
  • Design and implement network solutions for projects, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation and simplification of network operations.
  • Travel to sites as required, including occasional after-hours work depending on operational needs.

Key Skills & Experience

  • A current unrestricted driver’s licence is required. This role involves travel to roadside, motorway and tunnel environments to support upgrades, maintenance and optimisation activities.
  • Advanced Cisco expertise (routers, switches, wireless, Nexus).
  • Strong routing knowledge: VXLAN, OSPF, BGP, route redistribution.
  • Advanced Palo Alto firewall experience.
  • Experience with ICS/SCADA networks (Modbus, PLC, control systems).
  • Ability to participate in after-hours onsite work during planned change windows is essential.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability.
