Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Portfolio Management Analyst to join us at TAL on a permanent basis.

You'll play a vital part in supporting the Group Life and Retirement business unit by managing and tracking group premiums. Day-to-day tasks include processing gross and reinsurance premiums, assisting with month-end activities, and providing technical expertise for process improvement projects. This role involves close collaboration with the Commercial Operations Manager and contributes to both the immediate team and wider business unit.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct detailed analysis of premiums to validate accuracy against underlying terms and conditions and resolving material variances by liaising with clients and client managers.
  • Calculate reinsurance premiums and prepare reports in accordance with client-specific reinsurance arrangements.
  • Prepare month-end journals, reports, and reconciliations related to the Group Life business, and collaborating with the Finance team to address any queries.
  • Calculate monthly Group stamp duty liabilities and providing stamp duty data for tenders and rerates as needed.
  • Prepare annual and bi-annual regulatory reports in line with compliance requirements.
  • Continuously review and improve internal processes to ensure operational risks remain within TAL’s risk appetite, identifying and escalating any gaps as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Actuarial or a related field
  • Experience working within the financial services industry, preferably life insurance
  • Solid foundation and technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills and documentation skills
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to perform required tasks on a timely basis with minimal supervision
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
