SKUTOPIA is on a mission to democratise and decarbonise logistics.

SKUTOPIA is a deep-tech logistics company operating under a dual RaaS (Robotics-as-a-Service) and SaaS model. We deliver end-to-end, AI-powered robotic fulfilment for retailers - eliminating inefficiencies inherent in traditional 3PL models, such as human error, high labour costs, and carbon-heavy processes.

Our advanced robotics and proprietary AI empower our customers to scale faster with high-speed, high-quality fulfilment at a fraction of the typical cost - while also driving both revenue and profit growth.

Founded in 2018 by Talea Bader and Emily Townsend, SKUTOPIA began as Sydney’s first eCommerce co-working space. After witnessing firsthand the logistics challenges faced by SMBs, the founders evolved the business into a tech-first fulfilment solution.

What We’re Looking For

As a Product Designer for SKUTOPIA, you’ll work from concept through to production to help make sure that we are going to absolutely delight our customers, add value to the business and uplift our design practice.

Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for the full UX/UI design process so you can expect to be doing things like:

  • Conducting user and market research to determine what problems should we be solving
  • Turning concepts into wireframes, mockups and prototypes that deliver exceptional user experiences, solving long standing problems in new and unique ways
  • Running solution validation and usability testing to inform design iterations and improvements
  • Collaborating meaningfully with your Product, Engineering and other stakeholders through discovery and delivery

To be successful, we think you’ll need at least 4-5 years experience under your belt, and experience using Figma (or similar interface design tools). Experience in eCommerce, logistics or Warehouse Management Systems would be advantageous.

If you think what we’re doing sounds interesting, we encourage you to get in touch for a chat.

And Here Are Some Reasons We Think You Might Want To Join Us

We think this is a pretty great role (but we are a little bit biased).

  • You are keen to build things the right way, taking a fresh look at problems and not being constrained by “this is how it’s been done before”
  • You’re looking for a role where you’ve got a good balance between support and autonomy, and will get useful feedback on your work.
  • We get that life happens, and we will continue to support hybrid work.

How We Work

We are fans of Marty Cagan and 100% believe in empowered product teams. Our initiatives have a discovery and delivery phase, and the trio (Product Manager, Product Designer, Engineering) work closely through these phases.

Most of the team work remote or hybrid, and we trust you to manage your time. We are very collaborative and communicative though, so if you need help, or can help someone else, then we expect you to reach out.

We keep track of what’s happening with Linear and Confluence, use Slack and Google Meet to stay in touch, and try to limit unnecessary meetings.

We have a monthly all hands business update, and make sure we find opportunities to call out great work, and celebrate our wins.

Recruitment process

If you don’t have a CV to hand, a link to your LinkedIn profile or other online presence (e,g. portfolio) is absolutely fine.

You’ll have a quick chat with a recruiter, followed by an interview that discusses your portfolio, skills and experience as they relate to the role in addition to a case study and then a final interview that is more about how you work, and our values. It’s a two-way process though, so we’ll take the time to tell you more about the role and team, and answer all your questions, and schedule additional chats if necessary.

When you join us, you’ll be an important pillar of a rapidly growing company. From day one you will be challenged to take risks, think big and make an impact while getting lots of love and support from the team. With our expected growth over the next 12 months, this is a role with plenty of breadth and variety where you can grow with us and be proud of what we achieve together.

We proudly welcome people from all diverse backgrounds. When you join SKUTOPIA, we want you to bring your whole self to work and we value your unique contribution.

What's next?

If you're keen to find out more, apply now with your resume and we'll be in touch soon to schedule an initial screening call where we will walk you through the recruitment process. Usually, we kick things off with a “getting to know you” interview, then we’ll ask you to tackle a take-home challenge or case study, and wrap it up with a final interview.

Still on the fence?

We know that statistically, some groups are less likely to apply for a role than others, depending on their perception of whether they meet some or all of the criteria. If you have most of the things we're looking for, we encourage you to apply!

What you need to know about the Sydney Tech Scene

From opera to comedy shows, the Sydney Opera House hosts more than 1,600 performances a year, yet its entertainment sector isn't the only one taking center stage. The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region.
