Senior Product Designer
Do work that matters
At CommBank, we’re transforming banking to enhance the financial health of our customers and communities. In the role of Senior Product Designer, you’ll be instrumental in crafting seamless, accessible, and impactful digital/staff experiences for millions of Australians every day.
See yourself in our team
Are you passionate about shaping the future of customer experience at the intersection of financial services and innovation?
We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Product Designer to join our Product Design Chapter, contributing to the CommBank Yello Offers and Rewards squad within the Engagement and Loyalty crew.

In this role, you’ll help define the vision for CommBank Yello experience, crafting seamless and engaging journeys for millions of Australians using the CommBank App daily. You’ll lead discovery initiatives that shape the future of Commbank Yello and support delivery work planned for FY25–26 and beyond.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, communicates design decisions with clarity and confidence, and collaborates effectively with senior stakeholders.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact—bringing innovation to life through thoughtful, customer-centric design.

You are someone who thrives working end-to-end — from discovery, research and service design to UX/UI design and delivery — and will join our collaborative, customer-focused product team. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Business SMEs in an agile environment to deeply understand customer needs, translate insights into elegant, scalable solutions, and drive outcomes that deliver real customer and business value. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on design execution, and you’ll be a key voice in shaping the product and the broader customer experience.
Key responsibilities

  • Lead discovery work to uncover customer problems, identify opportunities, and inform product strategy through research, workshops, and co-design.
  • Translate insights into concepts, user flows, scrappy prototypes through explorations and ideation to test hypotheses and validate assumptions that bring stakeholders and leadership confidence in recommended solutions
  • Create engaging wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UX/UI designs, that maintain consistency with our design system, ensuring solutions are desirable for customers and feasible for engineering to achieve key business metrics
  • Apply systems thinking and design thinking techniques to shape an offering that must anticipate the needs of customers in a digital/physical service environment, and the staff that serve them.
  • Collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders inc. Product Managers, Engineers, Content designers, Accessibility managers, and Legal/Risk throughout the agile lifecycle
  • Champion customer-centricity and advocate for best-in-class user experience at every stage of the product discovery and development process, ensuring products/services are usable by all customers through accessibility/inclusivity
  • Contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions by grounding decisions in customer insights, design thinking, user behaviour data and a “test and learn” mindset
  • Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback according to our design standards to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to evolving our design system for consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Measure and validate impact post-launch, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions.

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience designing digital/staff products end-to-end in cross-functional product teams.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery and delivery activities with customers, product, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of human-centred design methodologies and how to apply and execute them pragmatically in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Excellent interaction and UI design skills, with an eye for detail and craft.
  • Experience designing for complex systems, services, or platforms, not just isolated features.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills — you’re as comfortable sketching ideas on a whiteboard with engineers as you are presenting strategic concepts to executives.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and a basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, components, design tokens).
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, balancing customer needs with business goals.
  • Experience with metrics-driven product development (e.g., running experiments, A/B testing, usage funnels data).
  • A portfolio that showcases end-to-end product design thinking, craft, and measurable impact.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in Financial Service, or another industry that combines physical and digital services
  • Exposure to design systems management and contribution.
  • Passion for mentoring others and uplifting the broader design craft in the organisation.

Why Join Us

  • You’ll work on products that genuinely impact people’s lives.
  • You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, customer-first culture.
  • You’ll have ownership and autonomy to shape the product as a key member of a cross-functional team.

We invest in your growth and career development through coaching, learning budgets, and design community support.
