Job Description

Acciona Agua Australia, a global leader in sustainable water infrastructure, is inviting applications for an experienced Senior Project Engineer Mechanical to support the delivery of major water projects across New South Wales.

This key role will contribute to the successful execution of large-scale infrastructure initiatives, including desalination and conventional water treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical engineering expertise, hands-on project delivery experience, and a collaborative approach to driving performance and innovation within the water sector.

Project Delivery Leadership

  • Actively participate in the mechanical design, implementation, and commissioning of major water infrastructure projects.

  • Provide technical oversight during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

  • Ensure compliance with mechanical design intent, technical specifications, and project milestones.

  • Resolve complex technical issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Design & Planning

  • Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for desalination and water treatment projects.
  • Prepare technical calculations, procurement specifications, and digital design documentation.
  • Present designs and cost estimates to stakeholders.

Procurement & Coordination

  • Work closely with procurement teams to define mechanical scopes and technical requirements.

  • Oversee vendor engagement, RFQ processes, and equipment selection.

  • Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure seamless delivery.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key technical liaison with clients and project partners.

  • Present mechanical solutions and lead discussions to ensure stakeholder confidence.

  • Foster strong relationships to support future project opportunities.

Required Skills and Competencies

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial process, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical project delivery or technical tendering.

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and delivery for water treatment projects.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, equipment selection, and installation practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proven experience with procurement processes and vendor coordination.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.

  • Willingness to travel interstate and internationally as required.

  • Experience with digital engineering platforms (e.g., BIM) is highly regarded.
