Senior Project Manager - Defence

Are you a seasoned Project Manager with deep experience in Defence infrastructure?

This is a unique opportunity to join one of Australia’s leading project delivery teams, working on nationally significant Defence and Government infrastructure projects. Based in either Canberra, Sydney or Brisbane, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Defence capability through expert project leadership and client-side delivery.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Project Manager – Defence to lead the delivery of complex infrastructure projects within the Defence sector. You’ll oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage project lifecycles from design through to commissioning and ensure outcomes that meet client expectations and national standards. This is a senior leadership role where your project management expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and strategic thinking will drive success across high-impact Defence programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project management services across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Manage client-side engagements under Defence Infrastructure Panel PM/CA contracts.
  • Prepare and oversee technical deliverables, business cases, and Defence approvals documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering a high-performance team culture.
  • Liaise with Defence clients, consultants, and delivery partners to ensure project alignment.
  • Support proposal development, capture planning, and business development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with KBR’s Integrated Management System and Defence governance frameworks.
  • Monitor project performance across time, budget, and quality metrics.

About You

You’re an experienced project manager with a strong background in Defence infrastructure delivery. You bring leadership, technical insight, and a collaborative mindset to every project.

You’ll have:

  • MCC experience and an NV1 security clearance
  • Project management related certifications and or qualifications.
  • 10+ years of experience in Government and/or Defence infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience with Defence contracts, project/program management, and approvals processes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Experience with Defence Infrastructure Panel related project delivery processes, templates and policies, as well as Australian Standards, and the BCA
  • Demonstrated success in proposal writing and opportunity capture within the Defence sector.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
